Learning with Caron Penney
Caron is a skills based educator having spent the first twenty years of her career, working for a professional tapestry studio in the south of England. Her skills range from collaborations with artists from Tracey Emin, Martin Creed, Bill Jacklin, Gillian Ayres and many others to the recreation of the ‘Hunt of the Unicorn’ tapestries for Stirling Castle, in Scotland.
Caron has a Postgraduate Certificate in Education and is a fun, and kind hearted educator who is driven by her love of the medium. She enjoys teaching complete beginners to advanced creatives.
She offers a vast range of experiences at Atelier Weftfaced, these range from face to face learning to online zoom classes.
Caron also works with a number of institutions including West Dean College, Morley College and galleries and museums. All of which can be found opposite.

Museums & Galleries
Caron often teaches workshops and courses at Museums and Galleries. currently she is working with Ann Symes at Gallery 57 to present a series of courses relating to exhibitions she is presenting in 2024.
Caron is also working with the Pallant House Gallery in February 2024 in conjunction with the John Craxton exhibition.

Caron offers two workshops at West Dean College every year. One is for complete beginners to tapestry weaving, and this is the only place that she currently offers this course. The second is a course for improvers to tapestry, Creating Tapestry - Further Techniques. This workshop allows students to work on their ideas while learning next skills.

The Tapestry Art programme at Morley College has been running for a number of years. It offers students the opportunity to start seeing their tapestry as art. We learn new skills, and participants can push the boundaries of their weaving practice.
